The motel standoff caused the cancellation of Tuesday's half-day orientation session for students at Billings Catholic Central High School.

The first full day of school is today. Classes will be shortened to squeeze in the morning assembly, which had been scheduled for Tuesday.

School Principal Ron Nistler decided at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday to cancel the student orientation

"My sense was it wouldn't make sense to have kids in that environment," he said. On Tuesday morning, he sat by the phone to answer calls.

"People would hear it on the radio and they wouldn't believe it," Nistler said.

Nistler said Tuesday that barring new developments, classes would be held as scheduled Wednesday.
